PAROS
June 14 to 17 - Paros is famous for its marble, which was used in many ancient sculptures including the Venus of Milo (now in the Louvre, Paris), the Nikea of Samonthraki (also at Louvre) and many others. There is a ruinous Venetian castle which was built in 1260 in Naousa. Here you see octopus (oktapodi) being hang out dry (pictured on the left with Leslie), and sometimes, along with personal clothings on washing lines. This is a picturesque island where some of my best shots were courtyards of the houses - most painted white - are full of pots of basil and hung with jasmine and honeysuckle. The most beautiful beach of Paros is Kolimpithres and the best dance club is Club Nova. |
